A Guide to Creating the Perfect Aphrodite Altar and Vanity
All the Girls Should Have an Aphrodite Vanity… and Here’s Why!
Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of Love, Beauty and Pleasure so why wouldn’t we want to create a vanity inspired by her or even for her?
Aphrodite is a symbol for woman especially in the ancient world and was a goddess who was highly sought after in all matters of love.
Having a vanity inspired by or for her can inspires us to continue to take care of ourselves, to love ourselves fearlessly, and to embrace the body that we’re in. If we also don’t like something, just know we also have the power as women to make that change.
Our vanities are our sacred spaces where we do our makeup, try on different looks, and even share laughs and memories with our girlfriends before we go out. It’s the place we sit to get ready for our dates and it hold an immense amount of power and should be tended to!
Here’s some ideas on how you can include the energy of Aphrodite in your vanity.
Candles are a MUST
Lighting candles when you get ready can make you feel like a queen in her castle. It really helps set the mood and tone for doing your makeup and can even shed some extra light to help perfect your eyeshadow and eyeliner! I love to personally keep Aphrodite’s Candle (which smells AMAZING) and the Venus de Milo on my vanity at all times to remind myself to take time to tend to myself or if I’m in a rush to enjoy the few minutes I have creating art, which is makeup.
Our Aphrodite candles were inspired by her statues in the ancient world where she is sitting crouched over and showing her stomach rolls. Lighting her candle also reminds me to love my body for how it looks, even the imperfections, and to not compare myself to the ever changing beauty standards in our world.
Spray, Perfumed Oils and Perfume
Having a signature scent, perfume and signature oil are all must haves on your Aphrodite altar and vanity. There’s something so luxurious about adding a scent into your beauty routine to keep heads turned all day long. Scents also make you more alluring and it’s what people remember the most when they encounter you (especially when you’re looking to seduce a partner or just want to be THAT girlie).
Our Aphrodite Room Spray and Perfumed Oils were inspired by the goddess and her association as a goddess of lust. The perfumed oils and sprays are meant to be added into your beauty routine to help bring in seduction and have people be drawn to you. I personally love to dab oils on my wrists, pressure points by my ears and on the nape of my neck and I use my Aphrodite oils every single morning.
When I wear my Aphrodite oils and perfumes, I envision myself embodying the aspect of the goddess that I need for the day and I have had people tell me they were drawn to me or feel like they needed to approach me. I’ve also had opportunities open for me and have felt more powerful in this divine feminine archetype of the goddess love, lust and passion.

Aphrodite Statues + Her Correct Iconography
As we all know Aphrodite has some of the most famous iconography from the ancient world. She’s depicted in so many different forms and so many different way to represent the divine feminine and the female body. Adding a statue of Aphrodite to your vanity and altar invites the goddess and her energy into your sacred beauty routines. It’s what helps us feel connected to her and everything that she stands for. One of the best ways to worship Aphrodite is to embody everything that she is.
Having a visual representation of the goddess on my vanity and altar is how I feel most connected to her, especially on the days where I’m not feeling great about my body and the way I look.
But the question is how do we know we have the correct iconography? Is it Aphrodite or is it Venus? They are two different goddesses from two different religions. Aphrodite belongs to Ancient Greek Religion while Venus was born into the Roman Pagan world and these two are often mixed up with iconography because of their very similar mythology.
Here at Styx and Bones - any statue we sell of a god, goddess or piece of ancient art - we ensure it’s the correct iconography. While we love to see Aphrodite statues, there are so many out there online and in the world that aren’t actually Aphrodite and then when we get to the goddess Venus… that’s a whole other story. You can find our Aphrodite statues here!
Choosing a Divine Feminine Archetype to Embody
One of the things I love to personally have on my Aphrodite Altar and Vanity are items that represent certain aspect of the Divine Feminine. Human beings are ever changing with the flow of life and the transitional phases that we enter such as being a mother, being a seductress, being enchanting, being a strong queen in our households or at work and even embracing the energy of the maiden. Aphrodite touches all of these aspects and she reminds us that we aren’t just one thing, we are and can be multiple archetypes.
We created the Divine Feminine Archetype Collection for you to create your own sacred space, altar or to keep on your vanity to help embrace the archetype that you are currently living in.
I keep may of these items on my Aphrodite Altar and Vanity and use them almost every morning. I personally have been in the archetype of The Goddess, she embodies all archetypes and helps bring in confidence and power when we need it. The Goddess features a beautiful image of the Nike of Samothrace (the hot girl statue of the ancient world).
